How Price Matching Works
Price matching allows you to purchase from your preferred retailer at a competitor lower price by presenting evidence of the competing offer at point of sale or within a post-purchase window. Most retailers require the competing item to be identical in brand, model and condition with the competitor having the item in stock at the matched price.
Best Price Match Policies
Best Buy matches prices from major online and brick-and-mortar competitors including Amazon, Walmart and Target both at point of sale and for 15 days after purchase. Target matches online and in-store prices from major competitors and its own website when online prices differ from in-store prices. Walmart matches competitor advertised prices in-store without requiring the customer to travel to the competitor location.
Price Match After Purchase
Many retailers extend price matching for 15-30 days after purchase allowing buyers to claim refunds if prices drop after buying. Setting price alerts for recently purchased items using CamelCamelCamel for Amazon or Google Shopping price tracking identifies price drops that trigger post-purchase price match opportunities worth pursuing.
